I MUCH prefer ImgBurn. It's one of the best, if not THE best, out there, and has been (and probably always will be) totally free.

I donated to it 'cuz it's so good that I wanted to support it, but that was just my feelings (since I use and recommend it so much).

Yes i use imgburn for everything apart from VCD, which i use totally free burner for, after using freemake to convert a video file to VCD format.

    Imgburn for me too.

I will not use adware anymore unless I have a very, very good reason to want the software. I've seen too many decent free programs turned into adware that was crap. Pretty interfaces that don't seem to be connected to much of anything, poor function, codec crap ...

Actually I don`t think most of these people even care if you ever use the program. As long as they get their hit rate of whatever percentage of people are dumb enough to install whatever crap search bar and get paid, they`re happy.

Remember, deepcut put a question mark at the end of his post, so technically speaking neither us nor him know if you actually can install this burner for free and decline the adware

But on less critical grammatical note, I'm really not getting the point of the recommendation in the first place when in his 3rd post in this thread he says he basically uses ImgBurn anyway for everything except VCD burning.

You do realize that ImgBurn is adware (despite it not being labelled as such in "Tools" here) -

Well, fortunately lots of adware gives you the option to decline.

I wasn't recommending TFB in place of imgburn, but it's a simple, lightweight program that performs the simpler CD/DVD-related tasks, like burning audio CD's, and it's a free VCD burner.

I just uninstalled then reinstalled TFB and you get the option to decline ad offers.

I would think anyone who wanted to exercise even a smattering of control over their computer would do "customized" installs, so the option or not installing that other stuff when installing Imgburn is a simple and PERMANENT no-brainer. True adware doesn't really "go away" when you ask it to.

Btw, Imgburn can also correctly do VCDs, so I don't see the need for resorting to an alternative.

Well maybe the Tools section here needs a concise definition of exactly what constitutes "adware".

Note I did say "unless I have a very, very good reason to want the software".

ImgBurn qualifies. It has many recommendations from people who clearly know what the hell they're talking about.

    That's a very short list.

Thanks for the heads up. I like to know that their are free alternatives out there in case something changes with the software I'm using.

I use Imgburn and BurnAware free. I had been using Imgburn exclusively for a while after weaning myself off Nero but found a situation that made me look for something else hence... BurnAware free. When I started burning HD video to udf 2.5 on DVDRW, Imgburn insisted on doing a full format of the disc every time I used a new one. Old recycled discs previously burned with udf 1.02 didn't have to go through that extra process. This really slowed down the burn time. BurnAware free does it on the fly so burn speed is close to the disc's max rating.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

I bet that LightningUK could add that feature into Imgburn (if it isn't already hidden in there somewhere).
