Hi!
I have a Sony HDR-CX550v camcorder, that produces AVCHD files, with the .MTS format, at 1920x1080, 22309 kbps.
Pinnacle StudioHD reads just fine my videos. I can join multiple videos, add transitions, etc. But when comes the time to create the movie, the quality doesn't meet my expectations. When I compare the movie with my AVCHD clips, it's obvious that the quality (video and sound) is not met.
My .MTS files were copied from the camcorder to the computer directly without a third party software, using USB.
My questions are, do I have to use some sort of converter in order to get my original quality? I think I tried every converter in the world (Pavtube, WinX HD, Aunsoft MTS Converter, etc.). But I cannot achieve to get the same kbps in the final movie.
Someone told me to use a software to import my video files from my cam to the PC. Is it the proper way?
Finally, maybe it's impossible to get the same quality of the original files. Should I resigned? hehe.
Thanks!

No, you don't need any third party software to copy the digital files.

How does the mts look before you convert?

And use better editors like vegas movie studio.
