hi. I have made some videos using some screen capture software, and they won't play in most media players, except for Windows Media Player. I used the MSU lossless codec when encoding them. Does anyone know a simple fix, where maybe i could convert them to another type of lossless codec where they will play in VLC and other media players? What is the best lossless codec out there? I don't wanna use just DivX or XviD to encode them, because of quality issues. Or maybe someone could suggest settings with DivX or XviD that would be near-lossless quality. Perhaps i could use some software to disassemble the video, and then re-encode it with another lossless codec?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

It may help if you stated the codec settings during capture.

I read that you can import these videos into vdub so, theoretically, you could re-encode to another format such as lagarith or huffyuv.

I say 'theoretically' since there does appear to be a lot of compression going on with this codec so you will probably not retain the quality whatever you use.
