Black Magic Intensity Pro: Issue with xbox 360 settings

Hi, I'm having an issue with the Black Magic Intensity Pro capture device and I'm hoping someone has a solution for me.

setup:
Xbox > [HDMI] > blackmagic input
black magic output > [HDMI] > computer screen

Firstly, the problem. I can't get video output from the xbox to appear on my computer screen when connected through the black magic intensity pro. Whether it be through multiple recording programs or even setting the computer screen input to HDMI.

few notes
-using an xbox slim (the new ones)
-when I replace the xbox slim with other xbox slims in the system, it works perfectly.
-hence, the problem is directly related to the xbox slim
-I believe it is a setting on the xbox, but not exactly sure what
-if i connect the xbox slim directly to the computer screen with an HDMI, i get video

*also important to note that I have had the currently non outputting xbox slim working
- it stopped working when I disconnected the HDMI cables from the black magic device.

Have you set the Xbox to 720p?

Yes, I have tried having it on 720p with media express set to 720p 59.99 and also 1080i with media express set to 1080i 59.99.
