Hi.
I have some VCD movies. I would like to clone them. In other words, I would like to make another copy.
I am not certain that the VCD are in fact real VCD. I do not some files are in DAT format.
What is the best and quickest way to clone a VCD? Do I have to convert DAT to MPG and then burn it as a VCD?
Thanks,
Kuphryn

Simplest way is to copy the CD using your preferred CD Copying Program like Nero, Clone CD etc. This works fine for all VCDs I have.

yes you could just use your favorite cd burning software like nero, roxio to copy your VCD's, or you could try his trick, copy the DAT file from your VCD "avseq01.dat".open windows explorer select a destination folder "C:/My Videos" or any folder you like, click on paste then right click on the file choose rename avseq01.dat to avseq01.mpg to make it a valid mpeg1 file so you can burn it back to VCD using Nero[/img]

Renaming a DAT file doesn't make it a valid MPEG file. You will have to convert it back with a tool like VCDGear.
Nero can handle this because (I'm pretty sure it does this) it remuxes all the MPEG files it is given but other proggies may not be so forgiving.
The best way of copying a VCD is to do a DAO copy (e.g., with CloneCD or CDRWin).

Okay.
I have the DAT files. I would like to convert them to MPG and then use either EZCD or Nero to burn them into VCD. I do, however, want to convert the DAT files into MPG and save them on my HDD. What is the best program for converting from DAT to MPG?

just get fantom cd 1.9 it has an option to clone vcd's and does an exceptionaly nice job

Im doing the same thing right now I had problems in the past copying
cd to cd so I extracted the file AVSEQ01 to a folder than used Nero to make a VCD all works well and no need to convert to MPEG1 first -
Read the above comments on why it isn't needed for Nero.
For everything else, it is a good idea to use VCDGear on the DAT file first.
