  1. When using TMPGEnc to encode my mpegs recorded from my TV using Dazzle Video Creator (USB), the quality is less than the orginal mpeg file.

Are there settings to compensate for this or is this the way it is?

The original file was over 500MB and the TMPGEnc mpeg was around 260MB, but it looked very blocky.

    Thanks,

  2. What codec (mpeg-1 or mpeg-2), resolution and bit rate are you using to capture?

Are you just using a standard template in TMPGEnc for encoding?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Resolution is mpeg-1 w/1150 bit rate. I'm using the VCD template but changed the resolution to "high". Should I try "highest"?
