  1. Hi!! I have a D8 camera and i want to capture avi files with virtualdub but the avi flies don't have sound. I can't use another program because my capture is too complicated. I want a VHS tape (ntsc) captured (transfered) via firewire. Well, i pluged the videocassete in my camera and the firewire cable into camera too (Temporary disable the DV IN to view the analog input) ///view this page for more details:

; and capture with a program like scenalizer, but the final avi has many drops. With virtualdub is diferent, the video plays fine, but the audio don't exists. How to activate it?

  3. I am not certain of this since I am unable to get VirtDub to see my Sony Camera setup like yours.

You may need to run an audio cable from your VCR audio out jack to your line-in on your sound card or there may be a settting that you have to change in your sound mixer (I read it in a couple posts here about sound problems. I am not certain if this would apply since you are going through the FireWire.)

I tried scenalyzer but when I try to capture, the program causes the tape in the DV camera to play and tries to capture that instead of the feed DV feed from the camera. I do have the DV out set to on.

Are there any other settings that you needed to set to get yours to work with VirtDub?

The only program that I was able to get to work properly with the same setup was Adobe Premiere.

  4. I believe Druss2001 is correct - you have to hardwire your VCR to your sound card. The current version of VirtualDub requires this - I had the same problem with my ATI TV Tuner.

  5. But I should add that I never got VirtualDub working with the firewire card to capture from my DV Camcorder (though I have read that it is possible).

  6. Well, with virtualdub don't works for me, but with avi_io works fine without drop frames. In scenalizer works fine but with many drop frames. I had to install the directx 8.1 update to work in my computer.

Now I have one curious problem with print to tape (or play normal) in premiere: after some minutes (15 or 20 or 30......) the digital signal stops the transmition, the DV IN still on my viewfunder camera, the video plays in timeline (premiere), but the only image on my camera is a blue screen. What is this??

your camera and system will try to capture DV Type 1 which Virtual Dub cannot handel

DV Type 1 combines the video and audio and VDub doesn't know how to seperate them.

try capturing with something else and then importing.
