I have a bunch of VHS tapes I'm transferring to DVD. Many of them play just fine on an old Sharp VCR I have, but there are about 50 that were recorded on a different VCR at the time (early 90s). Each VCR gives different tracking results, but the best one still leaves some tracking noise at the bottom of the screen. I'm assuming these tapes were recorded on a machine that could have been out of alignment, and thus the only way to get an exact (or close to it) track would be to have a technician take a VCR I have (I have a variety of about 7 random VCR's of various brands) and 'mis-align' it to match the tape.
Can anyone confirm if this would work? I don't care about having the VCR re-aligned after transferring these tapes, as I purchased several of these machines from relatives, and online for cheap.
Also, the tapes are in excellent condition, and show different tracking results on different VCR's so I know it's not due to tape damage.

The vcr can be aligned to hopefully match but its trial and error,if the video were recorded with noise to begin with no amount of tracking alignment will help.
I have done the same procedure on vcrs with success but some couldnt be aligned.I think, therefore i am a hamster.
