    I've installed avidemux 2.56 and with some video I get an error saying the filter has failed to initialize when I do some editing, but when run under 2.55 all works perfectly. Is there something wrong with this version?

    Avidemux is well known for it's bugs.
    You should probably post a message in their forum to see if they know about it.

    I`d uninstall and reinstall whatever worked for you before. Yes, avidemux has bugs. It`s not unusual for new releases to cause more problems than they solve.
