  1. I have taken a movie that is in DivX format (2 files) and converted to SVCD, but the file sizes are to big to burn onto a CD. So I need to join the two SVCD mpegs then cut the 1 file into a few inorder for it to fit onto a few 80min CD's. What is the best route to go about doing this?

  2. Depending on how big the file is (and if youre on win98 or win2k/XP), you may have to do custom cuts.
Demultiplex the first file using mpegtools, in tmpgenc. Use bbmpg 1.8 to load your video , mpv, and your audio, mp2, and specify a cut point, i.e. 797mb will give you an 800mb file, or so, that will fit nicely onto one cdr.

  3. Well, this is what I've done so far and had no luck at all.
I took the two DivX files, used Roxio Video Pack 5 to convert them to SVCD mpeg2 files, took the two files file into tmpgenc's mpegtools joined them together. Now that I had one file I demultiplexed it, brought it into avi2mpeg and cut it into a few 795mb files. I burned the first svcd threw it in the DVD player, no sound, it looked like the widescreen video was extra widescreen (image looked compressed), and the video looked kinda choppy. Any suggestions?

  4. Z,
not familiar with RVPack 5 but if it converts the avi's to svcd specs, the problem in probably in the joining. Were you able to play the svcd mpg2 with windvd or powerdvd on your pc, {before any joining}, and did they play well.

Did you uncompress the audio from the divx file, select the correct aspect ratio, before converting?
How big is each file: divx_file{1of2}.avi = __ mb mpg svcd ?
I usually do any cutting or editing in virtual dub (to the divx-avi), and split it into two parts before converting. This way i hit under the 798mb size, after converting. {divxavi-file1.avi = svcd-file1.mpg} Then the svcd 1 is ready to burn. Then i repeat the steps for divx_file{2of2}.avi
Once the audio and aspect ratio are corrected you may have to do a custom cut. I had a 2.146 gb file that i custom cut and was finally able to make it fit on three cdrs without joining both halves.
