I highly recommend the Video Hub App 2 from yboris. I have thousands of videoclips and his software helps me organize them and access them very easiyl. In my opinion the price of 3,50 USd / year is much too low.

Give it a try, you will not be dissappointed. I was definately not

  3. Newbie. Read thread.

Do any of the programs mentioned allow you to set a tag to a certain point in the file's timeline ?

I have family video library. Roughly 50 files, each 1 hour AVI long, each with dozens of clips inside the big files.

I'd like to catalog and tag the clips. So can I add a tag that would describe/tag/locate Joey's 10th birthday as 10:45 into Tape 7 ?

So I'm looking for a program where I could type "Joey AND birthday" and get tag described above. Then I'd click on it and it would open Tape 7 file and automatically go to 10:45 ?

Maybe I'm dreaming. Thanks in advance !

I have not personally tried any of these, but this list contains 7 applications at this time that might do what you'd like:

Please comment below if any turn out to be a good fit

Thank you for the kind words emark74
Minor correction -- $3.50 USD is all you have to pay (though you can pay more too ) -- there is no yearly fee. You get free updates for at least a year, though it's been 2 years and I still send all updates to all those who purchased

I'm amazed how some people make things harder on themselves.
    I have a spreadsheet.

    And done.

I'm amazed how people waste time in software/apps (or in threads like this, about said software/apps) that will someday go tits-up and stop working, with no way to export the data. You'll have pissed away countless hours.

I cannot even remember how many times I've seen that happen over the years. Then cue all the "what do I use now" posts.

Meanwhile, my spreadsheet still works, as it has for the past 2 decades.

  10. Video Hub App 2.1.0 released 🎉

    videohubapp.com

    New features:
    • Touch Bar support
    • Fuzzy search 🔍
    • pick default thumbnail
    • right-click delete file option
    • and many more smaller ones

    Many bugfixes:
    • better success extracting screenshots
    • better detection of correct video resolution
    • and many more smaller ones

Next version will likely have face detection -- I already have working code, just need to make sure the UI (user interface) is useful
