^^^ The red edges are not my doing, every time I open ImgBurn it appears with that weird frame and then closes itself like 10 seconds afterwards. It also doesn't allow me to drag'n drop anything.

I haven't installed anything to my attention that may change ImgBurn's settings, but I'm not quite sure so I'm completely baffled. I've been using this program for years and this is the first time this happens to me. I couldn't find help on google so I'm trying luck here.

If someone knows what can I do I'll appreciate it very much. Help please!!

What antivirus do you have ?

The only time i have seen programs run inside a red edge like that is when it was opened in Sanbox.

I have run the standalone and it is also incorporated in Avast.

Antivirus programs, especially free ones, are notorious for false positives (ie. wanting to sandbox good programs).

The best one re false positives is actually Microsoft Security Essentials. Believe it or not.

At the local university, which is extensively networked, all students have to have a laptop, and they have a tech support centre for them. I asked one of the support people there what she recommended for an antivirus program, since they see all the computer problems the students have.

And MSE is what they recommend. I was a bit surprised, myself. But the reasons she gave were:

No antivirus program really works anyway. Every single one will let things in. They are not a substitute for strong passwords and common sense.

MSE is the only antivirus program that doesn't cause problems on the network.

I thought that was a pretty strong argument.

Well it was not a false positive......

It was being run in sandbox which i can see it stopping a program from working or staying open and accessing anything else.

I built a PC in the early part of 2011 and I installed Avast on it. I had been using AVG in the past, but the makers of AVG made it so difficult to actually get the free version that I decided to switch to Avast after reading how so many people here raved about it. I haven't been very happy with the new updated, super paranoid Avast although prior to that it was OK. It makes me wonder if the next major update they make is going to make the product unusable.

Yep, i just updated my Avast to the latest version tonight.

About an hour later i opened ImgBurn and it opened in a red box, then closed down after a few seconds

    LOL!!!

I just set it to always ask when i wanted to run something "sandboxed" and then set it to always remember my answer for it.

I also liked Versions 6.xxx but i will have to see how this one works.

I am sure with a little tweaking it will be fine.

It is strange though that it grabs ImgBurn as a threat yet i have ran several other programs it and it never ran them in sandbox or asked me if i wanted to ??

And i would not trust ANYTHING form M$ for any security purposes

    I will agree with that!!!

Now tonight, for the first time since the update, it would not let me start up DVDFab & PowerDVD 11
But it did let me start up a couple of programs that i would think Avast would have seen as more suspect than Imburn, DVDFab & PowerDVD 11

But all i had to do was put them in the exclusion list.

It does seem weird that they basically have 2 different "versions" or "selectable" ways for sandbox to run.
    ??
