    Hello all

I really could do with help solving a puzzle.

Basically, when i play an mp4 file in wmp11 i get audio but no video.

I have Gspot and it shows the video codec as being avc1 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC

I have done some searching on the web it seems that there is a codec for H.264/MPEG-4 AVC in FFdshow and it must be set to libavcodec to play this file. HOWEVER!! i have set it to disabled and hey presto i can now see video in wmp11!

Does anyone know why this is? is it meant to be this way or is it ok? why does it only work when i disable libavcodec?

I must point out as well i am totally noob in this and way out of my depth, i just mess around with stuff and usually it works out.

Please Please help me, i know that someone out there must know what the heck is going on.

Probably some codec or splitter problem.

Have you installed any codec pack?
    Tried latest ffdshow?

But if it works with it disabled then use that mode...

    thanks for your reply.

i do have a codec pack installed (i dont know which one though) my cousin installed it.

I am just using it with libavcodec disabled for that file - it works, i just wondered if this was actually something wrong to do and hence meant i had done something wrong somewhere else.

My own guess is that maybe i have some other codec for that file and it is clashing with ffdshow and causing them both to attempt to decode the file - that would explain why when i disable the codec in FFdshow it works.

    again thanks for your interest!

You can render the file with Graphstudio; right click the boxes in the graph to see what they are.
