Whats the best way to fix Sync issues in MKV?

I got an MKV where the audio is out of sync. I'm wondering what's the best way to fix it? I have Virtualdub with the MKV plugin, it lets me load the MKV but i get the following error:

Obviously I have a "decompressor" present on my computer because WMP12 plays the MKV (sound included) just fine. So for some reason, virtual dub just can't access it? I have used virtual dub before to fix a sync problem with an .avi (xvid) and it worked just fine. I Have MKVToolNix and I know I could manually put a delay value in there and remux it, but I don't know how to figure out what the correct value is. I need to figure out how to get Virtualdub to work or find another similar program that will let me view/fix the sync in real time.

do you have aac acm for vdub?

or try to sync it in avidemux

you can find the sync value (+/- delay in ms) by using a media player with the +/- keys. Write down the shift value when it's in sync, then enter that value in vdub or avidemux to shift the audio


(btw it's better to fix in mkvtoolnix or avidemux, because vdub cannot export mkv)

Wow, that was fast . Just downloaded avidemux and that is giving me a whole bunch of problems. the video is studering and playing in slow motion (~1/2 speed)

Also I downlaoded that AAC ACM but didnt' install it cuz its a .bat file. Not sure how to tell exactly what/where it will install. That is a codec correct? will it interfere with the other codecs i already have working? Would like to know more before I install that.
