Hello
I'm a newbie and also my english is not the best.
My question is do you know a great program which can convert an avi file to a HD quality video.
I tried few softwares but the outcome video had the same video quality as the original avi file only the size was bigger. So nothing happened.

YOu can add some filters to improve the upscaling but it will never be any real hd quality so it's not worth it. Find another source.

Not going to happen...AVI has been severely compresssed, so you cannot make a better HD file out of it.avi file to a HD quality video.
suggest: RIP from the original source (blueray or DVD)

That the OP's video is an AVI does not automatically mean it's heavily-compressed. You can have HD video or lossless video in an AVI container, if you want.

As Baldrick mentions, you can indeed run a few filters on the video, and that might make it look better to you - but generally, you're not going to improve the video beyond the original quality. Scaling up lower-quality video will also only make its flaws more apparent. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

If your AVI is HD you have HD quality. If not you don't.

AVI is a wrapper. It can contain crap to lavishness HD.

The first clue is file size. Quality HD AVI files start (minimal) around 5GB per hour.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

	When I read
I'm assuming he was upscaling the video. Still i doubt he can make aHD file with better quality than the original.outcome video had the same video quality as the original

Just ask Jesus for a miracle !
Some restaurating software could make things slightly better but you need to be an expert to use them.Last edited by misermidas; 18th Feb 2012 at 11:56.
