  1. Hi

    So I've been using Avidemux to hardcode subs to my videos. This is my first time doing stuff like this, so I'm a real newbie. I noticed that you can flip videos vertically with Avidemux, but for some weird reason there's no flip horizontally option. Any idea if this is possible somehow? Any plugins?

    The thing is, I'm downloading anime in .mkv. My goal is to mirror the video and upload it with the subs. The only way I've made it atm is

    1. Convert the mkv to mp4 with XviD4PSP
    2. Flip the video in Sony Vegas, render it as .wmv with best quality possible
    3. Add subtitles with Avidemux

    This process is very time consuming and there's also a bit of quality loss. Is there any faster and easier way to do this? Preferably with as little quality loss as possible. I have the subs available as .ass and .srt

    Thank you.

  2. Why don't you hardcode & flip & encode with xvid4psp (ie. do everything at once)

    If it doesn't have the option in the GUI, you can edit the avisynth script in xvid4psp, just add

    FlipHorizontal()

  3. Thanks for your reply. That would save me from so much work. Thing is I have no idea how to. Which version of xvid4psp should I use (I heard 5 was better than 6)? Also, I don't know how to use and add scripts with avisynth. Any help is appreciated.

    Use xvid5psp 5, https://www.videohelp.com/download/XviD4PSP_5.10.271.0_2011-11-08_rc26.exe (it includes avisynth also)

    Open your video.
    Load subtitle, Subtitle->Add.
    Avisynth->AVSp Editor and add at the bottom
    FlipHorizontal()
    Save.

    You can select Avisynth->Test script and preview your video and see how it looks like.

  5. Hi and thanks for your help.

    I was able to do the whole thing with xvid4psp, and made a .mp4 video with great quality. However, when I try to open the video in Sony Vegas (I need it for editing, there are things I want to do with the video that xvid4psp can't), the quality is just horrible. Looks really pixelated and stuff in the preview, and when I render it the quality is just as horrible. Any idea why the video looks fine in any media player, but Sony Vegas somehow messes up the whole thing?

    These are the settings I used when converting in xvid4psp:

    Format: MP4
    Video encoding: Custom
    - Codec: h264 x264
    - Encoding mode: Constant quality
    - Quality (CRF): 1
    - AVC profile: Auto (high)
    - AVC level: Unrestricted
    Audio encoding: AAC-LC VBR 0.45

  6. Problem is sony's decoder

    I would use a lossless format like huffyuv /AVI instead - better compatibility with vegas

    It's a little more complicated, but if you spend a bit of time learning how to use avisynth you can use avfs, and frameserve into vegas without large intermediate files, or wasted time encoding an intermediate

  7. Alright, I'll try that. What's a good "Video encoding" setting to use? I tried FFV1 Lossless which gave me an error before it finished. I'm trying x264 Lossless now, but I really have no idea which one to pick out of all the options.

    And I'll definitely look into that, it would probably make things easier.

  8. vegas won't be able to decode x264 lossless

    try either huffyuv, lagarith, or ut video codec

  9. I downloaded the codecs and installed them, but they don't show up in XviD4PSP, so I assume I have to import them or something? Cause I've tried alot of video encoding options that are already there, but none of them seem to work with Vegas.

  11. Yeah I tried that one, but for some reason the encoding stopped at 70% or so, and where it usually states the progress (like "144000 frames 56 fps 6 min 8 sec" or something) it would just say "Unknown".

    Edit: Somehow "AVI Hardware HD" seems to be working well with the "XviD HQ Ultra" encoding. Thanks for the help guys.
