I was really surprised to see this when I just logged online a few minutes ago.

What a shame too. Another part of the 80's dies. Not the same tragedy but a similar loss like Michael Jackson. Say what you want about their personal lives but there is no denying their talent at their peak. Nobody could match them.

I definitely liked her biggest hits. She had a powerful opera type voice but did it with pop music.

    She'll be missed......
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Very sad. As a vocalist, at her peak, she was pretty much without peer. It's so eerie, I was just watching an old HBO compilation video that had her performance of the Star Spangled Banner on it.

And the entertainment/media machine she rode to the top, now consumes her ashes. They make their money when you "arrive" and when you "depart". What a business.

No different then when Michael Jackson died. They made money on his last rehersals. Wasn't that what the "this is it" video was from?

Agreed. The media machine picks the corpses clean, usually starting before they're even buried.
Had to laugh at Sony's price hike on her cd's, but more at their embarrassed back-pedalling
and subsequent price drop when the fans complained.

Expect 60 Minutes, Frontline and Nightline "Special Editions" too. And then the usual follow-up crap on Oprah, The View, and all that other daytime crap.

After all, it's FREE! to "document" her death. No royalties, no model releases. Just pure profit. Just like BigFoot and UFO's.

I think xfiles got screwed on those ones. I'm sure they had to pay something to do those shows...... Hmm...
