    Does any kind of simple gadget exist that would allow me to start and stop recording two cameras simultaneously? It doesn't have to be exactly at the same time, just so that the number of scenes/files would be the same in the end..

    Depends on the cams
    If they've a LANC, you could buy 2 remotes controls...or perhaps split them with a Y connector controlling both with one remote

    I'm not familiar with LANC, but I just did a quick google search on my two cameras and saw that they both support LANC so at least this is a starting point for me. I will investigate further, thanks! =)

    For $200 for a couple of those, I think it would save a lot of hassle trying to figure out what's what in post.
