as an editor when i work with DV i capture what i need off the tapes, complete the project and delete the DVavi. the tapes are the backup and still available at a later date if for some bizarre reason the project would need to be redone. the storage requirements are not all that high for DV. start working with some of the newer HD pro formats and then you will really whine. DVavi is an excellent all round SD source to work with and has NO competitor that comes close. and i mean within a mile.

yeah it definitely seems like it. i'd really love to use DV, but it doesn't make an efficient long-term, editable storage medium. sure you can can use it for the moment for a video, but you have to delete it shortly after or keep compressed, uneditable low resolution files.

i bet HD format are crazy. i'm glad i'm not using them. just curious what are you an editor for or what industry? movies? documentaries? weddings? lol
