I'm going to be making a video of a local music show (which my wife just happens to be in). I have 2 video recorders. One is an old GE CG9810 VHS camcorder, and a newer Panasonic VDR 250 DVD camcorder.

The old GE is a much more sophisticated video tool. There isn't much I can't do with it. Except the most important thing. I need to get the VHS cassette recording transfered to my desktop so I can burn a half dozen DVD discs for circulation to the family.

The Panasonic, of course, is digital with USB connections. I can't do as much with it but it does offer a direct transfer of video to the desktop.

I happen to have an unused video tuner card. I'm wondering if there is a way to use the VHS Cam recorder and be able to transfer the program (audio and video) to my computer and then make copies onto DVD disks. I was thinking the tuner card, with its coax connector, might be a way to do it.

I'm not a tech so I may be whistling in the dark here. Will appreciate any thoughts/suggestions.
