Hi al,
I am new here, and i see that this forum may help me to solve my problem here and i hope to enjoy more here as well.
First of all, i have a Plasma TV, 50", Panasonic model that support FullHD, it hasn't USB ports for downloaded files to play, so i must connect it with a Blu-Ray player that supports USB or PS3, is this TV old model and time to change it even i am not planning to?
Second which is my main question is: as long i downloaded some movies which are vary sizes between 2GB up to 15GB or even larger, i can't transfer those files into any Drive until i format to NTFS system, but then both the BD player and PS3 don't read NTFS system, and FAT32 can't accept sizes over 4.3GB something, so how can i play those larger size files of movies over 4.3GB on my TV? any recommendations or solutions please?

You could stream from your PC with ps3 media server.
Or use tools like mkv2vob or https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-mkv-to-mp4-avchd-ts and they will split the huge files.
Or get a new media device that supports ntfs and most video formats, see http://www.iboum.com/net-media-players.php
Or build your own HTPC that supports everything. -
Thank you very much for your quick reply.
- I will give that PS3 media server a try and see, but i don't like to use my laptop connecting to my TV, i will make that as last option/choice.
- If i split the huge files, how can i play them? or does that mean i have to cut the movies into parts and watch each part individually like in the past when we play CD 1 and CD2? Well, could be a solution but i really want to have full movies without divided into parts.
- I will check about devices that support NTFS, but how i can be sure it will play the contain? i should have the files in the media[flash drives, HDDs,....etc] and see if it can play those, it will solve the problem the best way even i hate to buy another player/device for that reason, but i will be left without choice then.
- What is HTPC?
Thanks again. -
HTPC is Short for a Home Theater PC aka PC MEdia Center
if I were you id get something like the Western Digital TV Live
They have many lines depnding on your need and budget... They can play from NTFS... Have a wide range of File format compatibility.. You can plug a variety of USB devices... (hard disks up to 2 TB) , keyboards, Wireless lan adapters...
Some even have built in network connectivity and internal storage (1 TB in the case of the WDTV live hub)
you can connect them to your tv via hdmi, component video or rca -
With such a nice television, you should invest in a media player like others have mentioned. It is a small investment, and those media players play most everything you can throw at them.

As others have mentioned a media player is a good route to go, but an even better route is to build a HTPC. With an HTPC you are only limited by the number of drives you can attach to the unit, but there are ways around this as well. Media player support many file types but not everything. An HTPC can be setup to play anything you want, but cost quite a bit more than a media player.
Murphy's law taught me everything I know. -
I am new to this, so where i can FIND HTPC devices? I can get another media player if i have to, but i didn't do that before i thought i may find a solution, now from your answers it sounds i have no choice with what i have already, either HTPC or another media player that can play what i want.
Well, i found a cable for connecting my Mac laptop to HDMI, i think the Audio may not work as my laptop is 2009 model or 2008, the Audio will work only for 2010 and later that is from what i had read on sites even the cable stating that, how can i use my Mac to be connected to TV and play the movies at best, i connected my PC laptop via HDMI but i didn't know how to stream the video, it shows just the normal quality of the laptop on TV, i will check the software you recommended me for PC, but i prefer my Mac laptop for most things over my PC laptop.
My Playstation 3 has firmware or version 3.6x, so i can't hack it or upload softwares, but is there a way i can modify it to play large sizes videos or it can read NTFS? I think as long most movies will be at large sizes then i have to find a drive that i can connect it to my HD TV for FullHD/720p and play from there.
Thank you very much for your great answers, i appreciate it a lot. -
if the house is networked you could use a nas(network attached server) that has dlna to store the movies. that way any networked device in the house could play them. if the blu-ray player has dlna then it could play them to the tv. works best if the network is over cat6/5e cable with 10/100/1000 routers/swtches. wireless "n" works but there may be pauses/glitches.

Well, this is a new information to know, thank you very much!
I don't know what do you mean by network, the TV is in my room and i am the only one in the house has the internet ISP connection in my room too, i can even connect my modem/router to the media player or the TV if it has network port.
My media player is LG HB905:
http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&site=&source=hp&q=LG+HB905&pbx=1&oq=LG+HB9...w=1366&bih=583
I can read on this device that it is dlna certified, so i have to search about it, want to have more details how to connect and play my files via network, i will get busy to understand this now, waiting your answer very soon to start now. -
Just in addition, i checked one network cable i have[yellow], i read something like "....CAT.5E TYPE CM LAN CABLE....", is this sufficient?
I hope my English is good enough for you to understand my issue, English is not my main mother language, so if anything more details you need from me just ask and let me know and i will answer as i much as i can. -
cat5e is fine.

I tested PS3MS, well, i don't know what to say, i reads the files but all large 1080p movies didn't start, frozen while try to read the movie to start, i think it called stuttering from another site i checked of PS3MS, another movie smaller of 720p or 1080p it work and stop and go very slow frames, those small files i can play direct from USB flash at full speed, so i have to see how to solve the speed of PS3MS connection dlna network speed, i will buy a cable for my Mac laptop to HDMI and see if it will do anything later.
