I just converted a VCD to an MP4 using DVDFab 8 and it has this overlay embedded into the video. How do I disable that? Thanks!

You use a free converter. Like VidCoder for dvd to mp4/mkv or format factory for everything else.

I'd use something like vcdgear (some may recommend ISOBuster), to 'extract' (no re-encoding) the MPEG video from the VCD's files, and then convert from that, if you want.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

VidCoder doesn't mention VCD as source for conversion. Are you sure it works with that?

I should say the real source is bin/cue... I converted that to VCD and was going to MP4 from there.

Suggestions if different than listed above for easiest way to do it?

That would depend upon what's actually in the .bin/.cue image set. Is it a disc image of a VCD, or something else?

So you have a downloaded torrent of a DVD that has been ripped and converted and is in VCD format, you assume, but it probably is because you have a BIN/CUE file.

But if it is an "Xvid" as your posting states, i am wondering where the BIN/CUE comes into play......

And you want to know why
Why Am I Getting This Overlay In DVDFab?
Try buying the actual dvd and or paying for the software to convert it to another format....

Although converting one of the lowest quality video formats to another format is beyond me.....

That is if it IS an actual VCD and not an Xvid file....

    But once again.....

    Oy Vey!!!!!!!!

unclog those ears and listen to the folks here(including noahtuck). do yourself a favor and at least rent the dvd for $1 and rip that to mp4. vcd is about the lowest form of video ever invented and converting that to something else is just asking for garbage. and the vcd you illegally downloaded was probably dvd then xvid then vcd to boot... oh vey indeed!

funny how people think they know details about a situation that were never given... i didn't download anything, it is a video someone gave me that doesn't need to be high quality... they say when you assume, you make an ass of u and me... but i don't know... i doin' fine... wish i could say the same for some of the "know it alls" here

    done...
