I downloaded a streaming video with Replay media catcher the other day and now I am trying to convert it to mpg for DVD authoring. I cannot get canopus, Riva, Xmedia or Super to convert it. they all stall out. I cannot even watch the file properly. I can't seek to a spot I want to watch. Do I need to repair this file before I can convert it?

Test more converters, avstodvd, format factory, avidemux.

And if you can play it in VLC you can also convert with it, under file->convert/save.

What format is the video? If it's ASF/WMV, you may be able to fix it/make it seekable with asfbin.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

Okay, that's what I get for not reading the subject line. Argh. (Actually, I think I mostly just glossed over it.)

Does VLC at least play the video? I'd also wonder if Avidemux could handle it, as Baldrick suggested.

  8. If you can't even play it , maybe you should look at downloading it properly with another tool - It's probably corrupted

Perhaps install FLV splitter, this will allow programs that use dshow access to the file.

I used Replay media catcher to fix the mete data and the time stamps. Now Xmedia accepts it and it's converting. I thinks it's working now!
