I need to get a 32" (+/-) TV with a USB port that will let me show slide shows (JPG's) on a loop -OR- video on a loop. I need to put this in the lobby where I work. Anyone know which TV's fit this bill? I need to stay around $300 or so if possible.

    Thanks !!!

I did a little more digging and found an LG... thought I'd share it here:

"The USB port on the side can connect to USB mass storage devices. It’s not the simplest interface, and we can’t honestly expect that many people will use it, but there it is. When you plug in a device, the TV prompts you to ask which media type you’d like to access: movies, photos, or music. You can’t view all the contents of the device at the same time. You can create the playlists and slideshows. The interface will probably take you a little while to suss out, but once you’re up and going you can create a photo slideshow complete with musical accompaniment – perfect for your next cocktail party."

    It also plays .avi files.

This is the LG 32LK330 (32") and it's $329 at Wal-Mart. I will be picking one up today !!

I recently purchased an LG 32LK330. It was on sale for $330 at Best Buy, and can be found for about $300 online. It does play a limited number of video formats/containers, .mp3 audio and .jpg photos from a USB stick, It has a repeat function for video playback, which plays the videos in the folder one by one, then starts over again with the first one. I do not know if it repeats slideshows or not. The USB port is on the left side, but it would be difficult to use if the TV is wall-mounted. The bezel is in the way.

However, you might be better off paying $100 more for a TV intended to be used for signage, like the LG 32LD452B.

  6. A lot of TV's have USB ports and can show a slideshow of JPG images. But you should beware of how well that works on different TVs. Our old Samsung for example, shows a black screen while loading the JPG image (depending on the size it can take 5 seconds or more. Then it shows the image for 3 or 4 seconds. Then it blanks the screen again while it loads the next file. So you end up with blank screen most of the time.

Also home TV sets have accessible USB ports which is bad for lobby. Expect the USB drive to be stolen unless you can secure it.

Signage monitors use internal memory or have a method to secure the USB stick. They also include free software to create the presentation.

  8. BestBuy has a Toshiba 32" for $279 but price changes. Beautiful picture so so sound but you won't be needing that. Try one in store, bring your USB thing.
