Newbie alert! (and I've RTFM'd)
I'm trying to convert an MPEG2 file to MPEG1 with a view to creating a VCD.
I'm aware that without the proper hardware this can take some time, but I'm not convinced that the actual time being taken is right.
The file is only about 200 odd meg (45 minutes) and having left it running overnight was only 4% complete in 10 hours. TMPG reckoned it was going to take a total of 240 hours!!!
I have a P3 600 with 80GB HDD and 512MB RAM. TMPG was using 272MB of RAM. I'd also set the priorities in TMPG to high.
The only other time I played around with TMPG was to convert an AVI file. This was 90 minutes and completed in 8 hours - much more reasonable.
Can anyone tell me if this sounds right?
TIA
Paul
