Hello All,
I'm putting together a slideshow and would like each image to display longer. I'm not too sure of say a decent setting. In Edit>Preferences>General the Video Transition Default Duration is set to 300 frames and the still image default duration is set to 150 frames then when I import the images and Automate to sequence the clip overlap is 300 frames.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated to suitable settings for a slower relaxing slideshow!
Thank you,
Best wishes
Graeme

The transition duration is too long, and double the actual image time.
I'm assuming you live in a 30 frames per second world, so I would try changing the transition duration to 30 frames (1 second), and leave the image duration at 150 frames (5 seconds). See how that looks. -
Thank you for your help, I understand, how can I make sure I am in the 30 fps world? Also may I ask when I set up a new slideshow what settings should I use, say PAL and size, I live in England, UK.
Thanks again,
Best wishes

If you live in the UK, you live in a 25fps (aka PAL) world, not 30fps.
Try this for a start:
Slide Duration=3-5 seconds (aka 75-125 frames)
Transition Duration=.5-1 second (aka 12-25 frames) - with 1/2 the duration using the end of the old image and 1/2 using the beginning of the new.
If you're doing this for SD, your size should be 720x576. If for HD, size should be 1280x720 or 1920x1080. If this is for Computer/non-CE stuff, you can make it whatever size you want (or whatever size your client/audience expects).

Hi Graeme,
I'm in Australia so at least we have a common denominator of PAL 25 fps, so we don't have to worry about 30 fps.
Assuming you're talking standard definition PAL, your project settings should be 720 width x 576 height @ 25 fps.
Also, are you talking widescreen (16:9) or standard 4:3 aspect ratio? Make sure your pixel aspect ratio (PAR) is suitable.
My personal preferences for image/transition durations are 125 frames (5 seconds) and 25 frames (1 second) respectively.
Of course, image/transition times are up to you. Try those settings and see what you think.
Cheers,
Steve

Thank you,
I'll give it a go and thanks for explaining everything so brilliantly
