  1. I have downloaded movies in the FLV format. When I play them they don't look too bad if the screen size is kept small. If I go to full screen they don't look too good. When I burn them to a DVD and watch them on TV they are almost unwatchable because of the poor quality. All of the movies are ok to watch on my computer if the viewing sreen is kept small enough. The bigger I make the viewing screen the worse the picture gets, some worse than others. Some of my DVD's are not too bad but some are very bad.

Some DVD's are ok and some not. That means that it can be done. But knowing what is the cause is where I am lost. I am not expecting GREAT but would like it to be as good as it can be. I know the source is important but if they can look ok on the small screen then why not when viewed on a larger screen. I am aware of the pixel thing but this is not a pixel issue. I am sure you as experts are very aware of what is happening and what I am seeing.

Thanks in advance to any that help me with this. Looking forward to conversing with people that know what they are doing and solving my problem.

    Thanks

Most flv videos have a very low resolution/frame size, around 352x240pixels and highly compressed. They just wont look good on any larger screen.

So you must find better source video. Like on youtube you might be able to download/select a 480p/720p/1080p version that has a much higher resolution/frame size and better quality.

  3. Hey Baldrick,

Thank you for your reply. I was hoping there was a way to improve these flv video's but I guess not. I will take your advice and try to get video's with the spec's you suggest. The trouble with youtube movies is that the are broken up into parts instead of complete. Maybe there is a way to edit them and put them back together into a complete movie before putting them on a DVD.

    Thanks again for your help!!!!
