I have Convertxtodvd and it works fine but at the end of all my sessions with the software, my computer goes to the blue screen. I then have to shut down the PC manually and restart it. The Video file that I was converting to dvd and burning to DVD is successful (meaning a have my video file successfully burned to a DVD). I have scanned the convertxtodvd with Norton antivirus and there are none. In fact, this same convertxtodvd works perfectly WITHOUT going to blue screen on my other 2 computers. I wonder if it is a computer thing, but NO other software does this.
I have a newer HP Probook 4730s computer.

Usually is this a sign of a heating problem or a hardware/driver failure.
Check out the event viewer - it should show you what the real issue was....*** Now that you have read me, do some other things. *** -
If I was using this program and it happened every time I used it, and it never happened with any other programs, I would simply uninstall it, do a system restore from before I installed it (if available), and start using something else.
The fact that it doesn't happen with your other computers doesn't mean it's hardware related.
It's not really that easy to diagnose something like this "over the phone". Ie. without knowing what else is on there. I can understand the comment about hardware ... memory chips that aren't up to spec are a common cause of blue screens, which is far too little known.
I prefer AVStoDVD myself, but frankly I'm getting increasingly turned off by the whole DVD authoring process. It's finicky even with good software, and I'm sick of buying DVD cases.
It's not that hard nowadays to get a TV that you can just plug your computer into. Actually, since I rarely watch TV, I just got a decent size monitor and watch videos that way. All physical media like CD and DVD is going to fade away anyway, sooner than you'd think. -
That blue screen is because of VSO's Patin Couffin driver...uninstall ConvertXtoDvd and reinstall it without installing the Patin Couffin driver.... I had the same issue a long time ago....got rid of that driver and voila...no more blue screens
-
I second this. Just go to Start > All Programs > VSO Convertxtodvd > Uninstall Patin Couffin driver.
-
Well, I did uninstall the Convertxtodvd, and when I re-installed it, I did not install the Patin Couffin driver. However, I still am getting the blue screen at the end of a burning session. The disk is perfect. In fact everything gets converted and burned just like I want it. I just get the blue screen at the end for some reason.
Solving these kind of problems is sometimes a process of elimination. I've ran ConvertX on several PCs for several years and never had a BSOD.Last edited by redwudz; 26th Jan 2012 at 02:02.

I did check out the event viewer and see no errors or problems.
If you haven't tried this, go to 'Control Panel>System>System protection>Advanced>Startup and Recovery>Settings' and uncheck 'Automatically restart'.
That should keep the blue screen on the next time so you can scroll down and look for the error. It usually refers to a module or may have the program name.
If you see nothing useful there, I would try a couple of things. One is to run a temperature program like HW Monitor and see if overheating could be an issue. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
RAM is also another possibility. Maybe it's marginal or isn't being released after the program runs. You can test RAM with a program like Memtest 86: http://www.memtest86.com/
Those programs may not highlight the problem, but they may eliminate some possibilities. I would also have Device Manager running when you run ConvertX to see how much RAM and CPU are being used. That may give some clues. -
At the end of a burn suggests there's a possible condition related to optical drive communications ... change the data cable and or optical drive and see if the problem continues.
-
The same problem has and is happening to my son in law the blue screen error reads that the IRQ is ether to
high or to low. Does that relate to the dvd unit? I installed another program and all works well. -
If you installed another program and it works, I wouldn't be questioning the dvd unit but the previous program's ability to work with it.

i have the same problem! My computer is brand new, windows 7, intel core i5, toshiba, and i have plenty of memory and RAM, i use convertx to dvd and i have the same problem, blue screen when it finish burning, but my dvd is perfect... I try uninstalling and installing again, even diferent versions of the program, but i still have the blue screen... With my other computer, i didn't have this problem... I dont know what to do, and im afraid that if i keep burning dvds, it will broke... Did you find the problem?? Could you solve it? Can you tell me how, please???? Thank you!!!
-
The problem may be the burning part, not the converting part. What if you just use convertxtodvd to author the project to a video_ts folder without burning it. Then use imgburn to burn your video_ts folder to dvd.
-
Well, thank you for your answer, i just solve the problem!! Look, i found it in here:
http://forums.vso-software.fr/bsod-after-successful-burn-t14859.html
I just do this: please check in your burn settings
"Don't eject disc or open DVD folder in explorer, after burn complete"
this should prevent the bsod
And i just try and when it finish burning it just says: Operation Completed.... I dont know if you could solve the problem, but if you dont, i hope this helps!!
