  1. I downloaded a movie which was in mp4 format, and it looked really good quality.
I put it into my dvd player thinking it would play, and it didnt so i used super dvd creator to onvert it into vob file. I don't know much on video conversions or burning, but i then burned it into dvd-rw and the quality was alot worse, the refresh rate also looked poor. Is there anything else i can do with the original mp4 file to make it play in my dvd player at the same quality?

I also noticed another film i downloaded was an avi file, (which should have played fine) in my dvd player like other discs ive burned, however, it doesnt.

I need some help on these matters on what to do. cheers

Some dvd players play xvid/divx AVI and some don't. But they all play compliant mpeg-2 DVD.
If you want to convert to a standard DVD, try something like DVD FLick or AVStoDVD.

You've given no info about the source files. Are they high quality HD files? If they are, and you want to preserve the HD,
you'll need something like the WD Live.

Otherwise, If you want a disk that will play on a typical DVD player, use one of the programs' mentioned above.

Moving you to our video conversion section.

    Use AVStoDVD as davexnet mentions.

Basically it's a film i DOWNLOADED called 50 / 50. The file is a mp4, i burned it to dvd r using windows media player, and when i put it into the dvd player it wouldnt accept the file format.

However, i used super dvd creator to convert the mp4 to a vob file (pal), after doing so, i played it in my dvd player and the refresh rate was crap! If i use the programs mentioned in this thred, what file format will it convert it to, and how good will the quality be as i dont want it turning out as it did when it got converted to a vob file.

I used super dvd creator as i could make my own title menu page and chapters.

  7. Im really surprised nobody can help. When i use Super dvd creator, it converts it to a vob file which is only 138mb which the original file was 1.7gb! so u can imagine the quality lost! dvd flick takes about 5 hours to convert!

It's surprising how many of these newbies know nothing about forum etiquette.

Here's some friendly advice. Before you jump in and post, lurk for a while. Read the kinds of things
being talked about, and try to get a feel for the "culture" of the forum. This is true of all forums.

If you'd done that you would have seen that openly discussing pirated movies is a big no-no, and is
    severely frowned upon.

Basically you made a big fool of yourself and you will not be taken seriously.

    Sorry to be harsh.
