  1. Hi, I would like to figure out how to rip my Blu Ray movies to my PC, (possibly convert to DivX) then watch on my main TV via Xbox 360 with Windows Media Center. I am not a total newb, but just not familiar with what are the best programs and formats to do this with. I would like to keep the video quality as well as have smaller file format, thats why I was thinking Divx. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!! I have a good PC i7 940, 8 Gigs of ram, GTX280, and about 8 Tb's of hard drive space.

    Thanks

  2. Which format depends on wether or not you want to keep the 5.1 channel audio.

H.264 is by far the best video format to use, but the 360 only allows you to use 2 channel AAC-LC audio with it (meaning Dolby Surround at best).

You can use 5.1 audio with WMV or AVI (XviD/DivX), but the 360 performs poorly with high bitrate XviD/DivX and HD Windows Media files can take a while to recode, although they do look good.

What is your main TV? A good TV will show any re-encode hits to quality.
