  1. Hi and happy new year.
I am searching already 5 days to find a tool that can help me to rip/mux a DVD that has 14 chapters and each chapter is a different cartoon for my case. So what I need to do is to get each chapter alone and also I dont want to lose quality. Was trying to do with DVDFab but the MKV mux is not working there for me also others are stuck in 0.47% or so. In one word need other then DVDFab.
    THanks

DVDDecrypter can rip by chapter but if the DVD has new copy protections then you will need something like AnyDVD running in the background.

Yes, that's what ripping by chapter means. If you want some other output format, when you've finished decrypting the various chapters/cartoons, then use a conversion program to reencode them or mux into MKV or whatever you want.

DVDDecrypte rmade the video narrower and I dont know why. It has same bitrate same resolution as the source but its not the same when I play it. Is there any other tool that can do this?

You could try dvdpatcher on one vob and set the aspect ratio to 16:9 and see how it works.

And if you would like "real" mpg files for each chapter you can use vob2mpg pro from the dvd. But it's not free.

I really would like MKV as my TV is having some issues with other formats or I dont know what to use for it. It is so strange that there is no software that can do all at once. I mean rip DVD to separate chapters and convert to the format that I need. And not to add each file one by one. Just put the DVD in the rom and start the job.
Now what I am doing is I rip with DVDDecrypter then converting with Handbrake. In Handbrake I add queue all the files one by one again then start converting. Its really annoying. If you know any program that can do all at once I am ready to pay for it. Please advice.

  18. Most programs don't include the decrypter because it could easily be grounds for the program getting banned. It's (as far as I know) always a two-step process - decrypt the video to the hard drive followed by the reencoding/conversion.

Splitting by chapters is a bit strange yes. You could batch convert your vob files to mkv with something like xmedia recode or freemake video converter.

And ignore my mpg comment...I was thinking about another thread.

Thank you for all your posts mate. I hate the DVD because of this issue not being able to convert them as I want to. But the cartoons I have are very old and very specific for me and I need them on my HDD. Will try that once too. Thanks to you and all the others for any advice.
