My new PS3 plays my AVCHD (m2ts) video files from my Panasonic HD camcorder well. They are 1920 X 1080 60P video files too. I am impressed with the PS3. My STUPID Samsung blu ray player couldn't play these files. I will be selling that on craig's list. Piece of crap.

Of course. It's way outside the Blu-ray spec.

  3. That's because Panasonic and Sony developed the AVCHD format, all their recent devices support it.

  4. 1080p60 wasn't added to the AVCHD spec until last year.

I rather use my samsung blu-ray player to play media files since it can read ntsf and mkv that aren't blu-ray compatible things that my ps3 can't do,i rarely use avchd folders or files since there's no need to author.

What I don't get is that companies like Samsung, that make a bluray player, KNOW FULL WELL that many people have HD Camcorders that use the AVCHD codec. And these same people are gonna want to play their video on their HDTV via their bluray. So since Samsung KNOWS this, why not make their bluray players compatible with the AVCHD codec, bluray specs??? Loads of people have these camcorders now. Why doesn't Samsung wise up to this??
