It's easy. If it is an AVI then it could be Divx. RM files are RM files, they will have a RM or RAM extension, while Divx is an AVI extension. If you have an AVI load it into VirtualDub to see if it is a Divx and if so which Divx version was used to encode the AVI. To find out go to file and then file information after you have loaded the file.

  3. Well... If you have a RM file, is it possible to convert it to DIVX and than burn it as VCD?

Let me start by saying I personally don't have much experience with RM or DivX. I think both are very low quality, especially the RM. As for converting you can use TINRA to convert the RM to another format. Whether or not you can convert it straight to DivX I don't know. I do know that TINRA isn't really that user friendly and is basically the only way to get it from RM to another format short of using a desktop capture device to record the audio and video as it plays on the desktop. There should be a TINRA guide to the left under Convert and TINRA should be in the tools section. Unless it is absolutely necessary I highly recommend staying away from RM and DivX unless you are really into those formats. The only situations I deal with Divx is when I download something already in that format and then I convert to MPG for VCDs. With my new computer I capture using the Huffy Codec in large format and then go straight to high bitrate MPG. That is just my personal preference and ability. Hope that helps some.
