  1. Hi all,

I need help with converting avi to dvd-playable video and burning it with burn for Mac. I use ffmpegx to convert the avi-file, and when I add it to my Burn directory for burning it, it burns nothing on my disc. What do I do wrong?

The details for my processing this issue is this:

I start ffmpegx, then add my avi-file to the program. I select DVD mpeg2enc as target format. Then I click encode.

The result is a video-ts folder, which I then add to my Burn-program. I choose DVD-Video as output format, and click "burn". A dialogue box comes up, which says "Checking" for a few minutes, and then it is done. The result is a disc with nothing at all on it.

    Do I do something wrong?

UPDATE: When I add files that I know are already in .mpg format to Burn, a dialogue box comes up that says "One incompatible file. Would you like to convert that file to mpg?" Is there something wrong with my Burn program?

The Help files for Burn-OSX says one should select the output format before adding files, so there may be an issue in the order that you did things?
Another thing to check is the content of the VIDEO_TS folder. If everything was authored as it should, then the contents of the folder should look something like:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
There may be more files, but it should contain at least these files.

Perhaps that .mpg file is indeed not compatible with the DVD standard. Frame size could be off, frame rate could be off, bitrate could be too high, pulldown flag could be missing. Hard to say without looking at the details of this file.
