OK I haven't checked this out yet and I don't even know if my dual core pc can handle it but does Star Wars The Old Republic have an offline single player campaign?
I've seen all the reviews about it (well not all but a lot) and it talks about it being a fully voiced mmo and a deep story line and all that. Its also mentioned how you can kind of go solo in it. But how solo?
I mean can you do the game without the subscription fee? It seems like it would have enough internal content to do it without or is not that type of game?
Its not another Jedi Knight game I know but is this a truly new type of mmo game or is it more of a hybrid model with more single player quests?
I'm sure the subscription is like 10.00 or 15.00 a month and I still have many games to finish so i'm not eager to start a new one let alone pay a monthly fee for one. But I was curious if it can go solo.
Thanks for any info.
Also I think I'll have to dig up the specs to see if my 2.7ghz dual core and 512mb ati graphics card and 2gig ram can even load the game let alone play it. (vista pc).
Edit - Nope it doesn't:
Will I need to purchase a monthly subscription in order to play Star Wars: The Old Republic?Yes, a monthly subscription is required to play Star Wars: The Old Republic. Players will be able to select one of three different subscription options:
- 1 Month Subscription: $14.99 (£8.99/€12.99)
- 3 Month Subscription: $13.99 per month (one-time charge of $41.97/£25.17/€35.97)
- 6 Month Subscription: $12.99 per month (one-time charge of $77.94/£46.14/€65.94)
Too bad. Not gonna play it for that kind of money.
I'm still interested to find out if my computer can play it though.
Edit - yep I can play it:
What are the system requirements for the game?Processor:
RAM:
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better
- Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or better Operating System:
- Windows XP or later
Note: PCs using a built-in graphical chipset are recommended to have 2GB of RAM.
- Windows XP: 1.5GB RAM
- Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB RAM
Star Wars: The Old Republic requires a video card that has a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM as well as support for Shader 3.0 or better. Examples include:
DVD-ROM drive – 8x speed or better (required for installation from physical editions only) Internet connection required to play.
- ATI X1800 or better
- nVidia 7800 or better
- Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better
Edit - correction maybe not - I have the 512 ati all in wonder hd pci-e card. Thats quite a few years old now and I don't think it has this shader 3.0 deal. Also I might be on the edge of cpu power as I have a 2.7ghz dual core amd processor but I don't know what the "xx00" number rating is on it.
Oh well guess I'll forget about the game since I don't want to keep paying for it.
I have plenty of other games to play and if I get interested maybe I'll check out lord of the rings online sometime during my break - its still free to play isnt' it? though does it have the same system requirements as swtor?
