  3. As an alternative to what says Baldrick, if you set in Subtitle Edit (menu Options -> Settings -> tab Video player) the playback with VLC media player (not with Windows Media Player), you should have any problem, because you don't even need to install the AC3 codec.

    Obviously, first you must have the software VLC: download the portable version of VLC media player and copy the entire contents in the subfolder of Subtitle Edit named VLC.

  4. Thank you very much. VLC did it.
    Windows Media Player played the sound too, still Subtitle Edit did not. Apparently it does not use the computer's default player, but something built in it.
