  1. Got a DVD to rip this weekend that had major scratches. Even when I played the movie in my player, the scratches were too deep for the player to ignore them, so playback pretty much halted for a minute. I tried to rip the disc and ran into this same problem. Smart Ripper only lets me rip in chapters. Is there a way to rip specific segments to their own VOB files, so I can pass over the bad scratch on the disc?

I know with audio cd's you can fillin the scratches with tooth-paste. May want to ask around before doing this with a DVD but I know it works with Music CD's

  4. This sometimes works for scratched disks .... use Brasso on a soft lint free cloth and make circular strokes over the disk. Buff off any Brasso residue with a clean lint free cloth and if you've got any you could give the disk a clean with some IPA (iso-propyl alcohol).

Would be best to try this out on a old CD disk. Get some practice before wrecking your DVD

BE WARNED: This may not work but if your DVD is gubbed then it has got to be worth a try!

    GOOD LUCK

First of all you NEVER want to rub in any other way except: From the inside of the disk outwards.

Just put some toothpaste on a lint free cloth and drag it from the inside out. In theory you can wipe it clean, the tooth paste will fill in the scraches.

    Hope this helps
