  1. I am a bit confused ( again ). Using TMPGEnc to convert to vcd with sefys sevcd enhanced pal template I am not sure about aspect ratio settings. O.k., I understand that in the video tab you set what you want to come out, pal 625 4:3 in my case. On the advanced tab you set the aspect ratio of the source, the file in this case is 640 x 272 23.976 fps. What do I set the source aspect ratio to? apparently 23.976 fps is ntsc film, but which aspect ratio setting does this appear as in the list? What is the result of getting it wrong?. Hope I have explained this well enough.

    Thanks in advance

  2. I always leave the source aspect ratio at 1:1 (VGA) and as you say, set the aspect ratio on the video tab to whatever output ratio you need. Cant claim to fully understand how these settings work, but it works for me!

  3. I am wondering the same the aspect ratio is 2.35:1 (which is not in the list). Is Rat Race the movie by chance?

  4. Thanks for the replies guys, and no, the film is the wedding planner. I'm still not sure why you need to change this, and what the effect of getting it wrong is!

  5. I've actually changed this in my Classical Guide, but here we go
If you have a Wide Screen movie and you want to retain the Wide Screen then you must do 2 changes in the Settings - Advanced:
    Source aspect = 16:9 Display
Aspect ratio = Full Screen (keep aspect ratio 2)

This will ALWAYS work on any Wide Screen movie! i've yet to see it fail!

  6. Thanks sefy, in my case I always want a full screen 4:3 output whatever the input, so I use pal 625 4:3 with ' no margin ( keep aspect ratio ) ' in the advanced tab. Do I have to make sure the source aspect ratio is set right or doesn't it matter?

    thanks again

  7. Yup, make sure the aspect ratio is correct, try even using the Center and specify resolution, it might work better.
