I read several older posts here, as well as countless other websites, and found a fix for my capture problems. I can't think that I'm the only one out there that has this issue. I have an older FIC Via-503+ Motherboard with Via Chipset. Using a Creative Labs Sound Blaster PCI-512 Sound Card, with a ATI Radeon All In Wonder 32 MB Capture Card. I removed all ATI Software, downloaded the latest Direct X, also the Capture Update (as instructed in the vcdhelp guide section for ATI Users). Followed the guide exactly the way it said (re-installing the ATi Driver, software, etc.). I finally tested the capture recording, and still had a "hiss" in the playback. I read other posts in this forum, and was convinced that I should swap out my Creative Labs card, as others have had problems with the card. I came across a website that mentioned that older Via Chipsets had issues with sound, and recommended a "PCI Latency Patch". I wasn't real comfortable about the warning messages, but figured I would gamble. (I backed up my C: Drive before attempting this patch). Anyway, I rebooted, tried a capture, and the playback was outstanding! I couldn't believe it. I have seen no side-effects to this patch, so I guess it wasn't the sound card after all !! Anyone who needs this patch, feel free to send me a private message. I appreciate this forum, and this website. I have learned so much from vcdhelp. Thanks ! 8)
