My mouse pointer wanders off, sometimes, right at the time I click on something which causes to click the wrong thing. It's very annoying.

    I run Windows 7 ultimate 64 and 32 bit.

Any Idea what to do about it.

    Thanks

    John

Mine wanders slowly and jumps to sometimes click the wrong item(only on Ebay though)....and I'm on Windows XP. I highly doubt it comes down to which version of Windows you are using.

  3. Optical mouse? Use compressed air to clean out the optical path. I've also seen this happen when the battery is running low.

I would also try another mousepad. I've had a few mousepads cause a similar problem.

Same here. Mine's a cheapo Saitek. It doesn't always "wander" so I don't worry about it. It has outlasted at least two of my wife's precious Logitek mice. And I haven't used a mousepad since the old roller/ball mice went by way of the dinosaur.....oh well. Works 100% about 98% of the time....

does your desk have a slight vibration from the PC or something? a vibration that seems slight could cause the mouse to do that, does it move if you hold the mouse?
