I'm new here so if this has already been asked and solved please just put the link here. I haven't been able to find what I was looking for through a quick search of the site.
I do freelance videography with the Canon T2i and I need to figure a way around the 12 minute record time limit. Is there a way to record straight to my Macbook Pro (or hard drive)? I have Final Cut Pro 7, Adobe Premiere Pro, and the entire Adobe Suite CS5 (including OnLocation). Will any of these work?
Or can I (someway) buy a DVD recorder and record straight to the DVD (or if it has a Hard Drive built in it)?
I'm looking for options here. It's been a hassle trying to record videos and having to piece together 12 minute clips.

	No, because:

 1) Macbook would need a pci-e slot for external capture card (or some other recording device)
 2) HDMI output isn't clean on the T2i - there are graphic overlays, and resolution is reduced

There is a "magic lantern" firmware hack, but I don't think they've solved problem #2

An HDV camcorder streams HD MPeg2 over Firewire live to a Mac or Windows machine. Problem solved.

HDMI out of an AVCHD camcorder can go about 20 ft to a Decklink box to SDI to a Mac tower with SDI card and captured MJPEG or uncompressed to a RAID.

HDMI out of an AVCHD camcorder can go about 20 ft to a Windows PC with BM Intensity card captured to MJPEG.

A Pro camcorder outputs SDI directly to a Mac tower or PC with SD card.

For a Canon T2i, you can export SD analog composite to a DVD recorder or capture composite with an Elgato USB stick to your MacBook.Last edited by edDV; 4th Dec 2011 at 00:13. Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
