  1. I have been trying to convert an avi file file to svcd for some time now with TMPEGEnc. The resulting MPEG-2 file has great resolution and sharpness, and the sound is also good. It is just that the movie is choppy, sort of stutters every now and then. I suppose it has got something to do with fram rate.

    * The avi file has an frame rate at 23.976 so i encode it with NTSCFilm template.
    * I use an average bitrate of about 1939 kbit/s (have tried to increase it but it doesn't seem to improve quality).
    * I have tried to set "Motion search precision" at both "high quality" and "highest quality".
    * + I have tried basically every setting possible in TMPEG.

Is it me doing something wrong or should i try another encodingprog ?
Please send me your views, comments...anything. Everthing will be a help at the moment :)

Have you checked the bitrate of the MPEG2 file by BitrateViewer.exe?

If the bitrate exceed 2520, the standalone player may loose some frame.

During the last test I've done, I discrovered that some problemes where due to some spikes of bitrate over 2500 (3200!!) , althought TMPGEnc showed to operate at 2500 maximum.
At those frame the player chopped...
