Have had a Pioneer DV-525 for about 1 1/2 years now and has played all DVDs I have thrown at it. Recently got some SVCDs and VCDS and it spits them out. Tried all different brands of CDRs etc.. and still won't play any of them. Heck I have tried Audio CDs and it won't even play that!! From everything I have read here I have one of those DVD players that pretty much should be able to play anything yet here I sit. Any ideas?? Settings? What could I be missing here? I would think something could be wrong with it, but the fact that it plays all DVDS makes me think I might be missing something. Any thoughts would be appreciated!!
    Regards,
    HAL

It says it should play them providing you've encoded properly, as well as authored/bunred them appropriately

Exactly!! It should play pretty much everything except MP3s.. Yet this will only play DVDs. Also note that a store bought Audio CD will not work either.

The only reason I could think of is to give it a firmware upgrade... but I don'yt know if you can get one online...

  6. As one that owns the Pioneer 525 DVD Player, I highly suggest you get that replaced, there is a defect in your DVD Player.

  7. if it won't even play commercial audio cds, the laser wavelength used to read cds/cdr's is defective. but there's a separate one for the dvd wavelength, which is obviously working. give pioneer a call and explain the problem. they may even cover you under warranty if you're nice.
