Again, if you're using 64 bit Windows: 64 bit programs require 64 bit codecs, 32 bit programs require 32 bit codecs.

In addition there are two different video subsystems in each of those: VFW and DirectShow. Editors tend to use VFW, media players DirectShow. ffdshow as both VFW and DirectShow decoders. You should enable the appropriate decoders in both, and in both 32 bit and 64 bit ffdshow.

Yes i am on windows xp 64 bit, but I cant see on ffdshow where 64 bit wmv3 is i have enabled wmv3 as on snapshot below

  2. 64 bit programs require 64 bit codecs. You have to download and install a 64 bit build of ffdshow:

    https://www.videohelp.com/download/ffdshow_rev4052_20111120_clsid_x64.exe

After installation it will show up under Start -> All Programs -> ffdshow x64 -> Video Decoder Configuration.

    Brilliant, I love it !

Seriously though, it is possible the movie you downloaded is bogus.
What is the file extension of the file you downloaded - AVI, WMV, etc,etc
The obvious question is, does it work with other WMV files? This one for instance ?

    Natty(theNutter),

WinXP 64 was little more than a successful 64bit experiment. I'd highly recommend going to Win7 64bit if you want to stay in the Win64 environment.

    On a side note:

GO TO THE THEATER TO SEE THE F*CKING MOVIE!!!!

Sorry, I feel better now. With all due respect, I recommend fully installing each the following codec packs:

    K-Lite
    CCCP
    Win7codecs
    XP Codec Pack

A link to each can be found in the tools section on this site. Once installed one or more should clear up any codec issues you may have.

    Happy Holidays!

Just the screener thing. I'm over it now ... don't worry about. Usually just a couple of the codec packs will do but shouldn't be a problem if you use all four.

Did you enable the decoders in the 64 bit version?

You know, it's always helpful when you provide more information, not less.

Yes, if you want to **** up your system. But the good news is that will require formatting your drive and reinstalling Windows. So you can go back to 32 bit XP and be rid of all the problems caused by 64 bit XP.
