  1. -Hey!-

Congratulations. I've graduated to advanced conversion! Now for my problem:

I had these two huge MOV files. I want to make an NTSC VCD. The files couldn't be converted to AVI directly with QuickTime Pro because of an input/output error. (Don't ask me what that was all about.) So, I used QuickTime Pro to cut the video (which happened to be a concert) into smaller ones by song. I made each smaller MOV independent of the larger one. The framerate on the original and the smaller MOV files was 60fps.

I then converted the smaller MOV files (the ones without the errors, anyhow) into AVI files. I set everything to 'best' on the output, except for framerate, which I set at 29.97. Then, I converted the AVIs into MPGs using TMPGEnc. I created the image using TSCV, set it to NTSC and all that. I burned using CDRWin at 4X (which is the lowest speed it gives me).

My problem was that my final product was a VCD that had macro squares, or whatever the technical term is. I then read a zillion posts and decided to try filters. I've used a zillion templates, as well. What I then came up with was a VCD that had little or no macro squares, only now it freezes in places and then I can't do anything.

This is the oddest problem. I'm using the same medium I've always used. I'm doing everything the way I've always done it. But this is the first time I've converted from MOV to MPG.

I've tried using other ways to convert from MOV to AVI other than QuictTime Pro. But I found that the other programs, such as MOV2AVI give me terrible resolution.

I don't really know what to do. If anyone can suggest something, point me to a template that has worked for them (with AVIs created from MOVs), or tell me that I'm stupid, that would make me feel better.

    -Later!-
    Eric

  2. you might try opening the mov in premiere and frameserving to tmpgenc... cause everytime you reencode a video you lose quality.
