    Hi gang,

I am running my Toshiba satelite vista pro out to my Samsung lcd tv using HDMI. I keep getting horizontal distortion lines when there is fast movement on the video.

Using both VLC and Gom players, I enabled deinterlace, but no change. I set my resolution to 1440 x 900, but the problem still exists.

I have noticed that WMV has more distortion than xvid. In fact xvid has significantly less lines.

    All suggestions are welcome.

    thanks.

Do you see these lines on your laptop screen also? Or just the tv?

    Maybe tearing?

An you can post a screenshot or camera shot that might help describe it better.

  3. If tearing is the problem, look for vertical sync options in the players. MPCHC for example:

Name:	vsync.png
Views:	12514
Size:	46.0 KB
ID:	9793

In VLC, try changing the output device. Tools -> Preferences -> Video -> Output.

Another problem is that some graphics chips only support vertical sync on one output. You may be able to switch which display is the primary display in the graphics card's setup applet.

My laptop has no tearing, but the TV does.

Now I know what the lines are called--thanks.
