Hi All,
Is it worth salvaging the CPU (Core2 Duo, T7500), 2GB DIMM, and 250GB hard disk from a laptop ?
It's difficult to find a mini-itx motherboard for Socket 479 CPU.
Any suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.

The HDDs and RAM come out fairly easily, the CPU doesn't most times. But if you're going to scrap it, give it a try. Most of the Mini-ITX MBs already come with a CPU.
You can easily get external enclosures for 2.5" HDDs, so it may be useful for that. -
Use it for the learning experience. The CPU is already outdated, 250gigs is woefully small, and the memory?? However, carefully taking it apart and putting it back together for the experience is priceless. It will pay off in Aces one day when one of your new laps has a hard drive fail and it's one month out of warranty, for example.

Hi folks,
Thanks.
1 for and 3 against.
I even have a hard time finding the socket 479 mini-itx in eBay.
It will be nice to have a mini-itx as a HTPC.
Guess I have to toss that idea and sell the laptop to the scrap house. -
If the hard drive is SATA save it. Hard drives are expensive right now due to floods taking a significant percentage of production facilities offline.
250GB is not big enough as the only drive in a computer but it is big enough for an OS drive with a second large drive for data. If you ever do build that HTPC (using other parts), some HTPC cases only have room for two drives if at least one is a laptop drive.
