It should load - I've just tried a few mp4 files and everything is OK. Why don't you post a MediaInfo report on the file. Also what version of Vegas are you running?

Seems OK maybe it's the codecs in Vegas? By way of example here are the details pf one of my mp4 files that open without difficulty in Vegas 9 and this file has chapters embedded as well.

    Code:

  5. vegas is highly sensitive to codecs and encoder settings.
if you have source with you, just re-encode to DV-AVI before taking it to vegas which indeed give you better quality.

  6. It looks like regular divx or (xvid) /mp3

If you re-wrapped into AVI container it would probably work. You could use avidemux (in copy mode) or maybe avi-mux gui

  7. @poisondeathray
it is regular XViD encoded with ffmpeg (with tons of quality settings) in mp4 container (un-necessary) with fourcc tweaked.
so if he just wanna use fmpeg better option would be dv-avi that vegas won't deny.

  8. the mp4 is actually a remux of an avi file using ffmpeg

i remuxed it because for some reason certain sections of audio kept getting garbled up or out of sync after awhile when i edited the avi file in vegas. i thought maybe using a different container format might help... i guess not. ill post a new thread about how to fix that
