I am evaluating a Mustek DVD-520 and I have to decide in a few if
buy it or return it.

It works fine with DVDs, SVCDs, XSVCDs, CDs with MP3s, CDs with MPG
files.
Pressed CDs, CDRs (also 90min) and CDRWs all work fine.

I can make it region free using the remote control:
SETUP
NEXT
STOP
PAUSE/STEP
PREV
NEXT

The firmware version is 2.02

Do you know if it also plays miniDVDs?
Where can I download a sample miniDVD to test it?
