it happened to me, try to repair the AVI file with Virtual Dub or use DIVFIX- http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divfix.html

the divx is fine, i've watched the movie while it was a divx and it opens and converts for a while then it says the error
-
even if the divx can be watched fine, there still a possibility it has error. Try Virtualdub scan video stream for error

Sometimes just setting both audio and video to direct stream copy and saving a new copy of the avi file (in Virtual Dub) cleans up some junk, but if it's serious you could try divxfix.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
damn it didnt work, i reconstructed the index with divx fix, dpone a few thingsin virtual dub but i got this error, Illegal Decimal Calculation Order
